Atmosphere Remote Sensing

Almost all space geodetic measurement techniques, such as GNSS, satellite altimetry, VLBI , SLR and LLR, DORIS, as well as radio occultations, provide valuable information about the state of and the dynamics within the atmosphere. To make the best use of these techniques, however, one needs efficient frameworks that combine all these measurements and existing knowledge (reflected in models) to extract as much information as possible. Addressing this challenging task has motivated the research activities of our group, where modelling and forecasting the state of troposphere, thermosphere, and ionosphere are among our main research foci. Our team is actively involved in organising international science activities related to space weather and climate research. Ehsan Forootan is co-chair of the IAG sub-commission 4.3 Atmospheric Remote Sensing and the science panel of the global geodetic observation system (GGOS).
