    • Çağatay Çakan visited the Goethe University Frankfurt from March 9th to March 13th , in Frankfurt, Germany. He worked with his co-supervisor Petra Döll. During the visit Çağatay Çakan focused on surface water components in the WGHM and evaluation process of these components.

    Shima Azimi has joined the group as postdoc within the Space-based Free Flood Awareness System for Africa funded by the Independent Research Fund Denmark we wish her all the best.

    From May 15th to June 15th, Leire Retegui-Schiettekatte will be visiting the Research Institute for Hydrogeological Protection (IRPI-CNR) in Perugia, Italy. She will be working with Dr. Luca Brocca on soil moisture data assimilation in Mediterranean regions. Enjoy your visit Leire! We will miss you!

    • Marie Dam has started her job as scientific student assistant working on the DTE Hydrology Next project to validate satellite gravity products against GNSS measurements.



    Çağatay Çakan has started his PhD Fellowship working on the Villum YIP project to tackle the challenges of climate change and its impact on our water resources by combining hydrological modelling with calibration/data assimilation and data-driven methods.

    • August 1st, Maike Schumacher is offered the associate professorship position in Geodesy and Data Assimilation at the Geodesy Group. She will build her research group around her Villum Young Investigator project.
    • August 25th, Dr Shaoxing Mo has finished his visit of the Geodesy Group. During this visit, he worked on the machine learning and deep learning to predict and downscale satellite data.
    • August 30th, Leire Retegui-Schiettekatte has moved to the University Berkley, USA, to work with Professor Manuela Girottoon on multi-sensor hydrological data assimilation. Leire Retegui-Schiettekatte will stay in the US for three months.

    Stine Gjørup Klemmensen has started her job at the Geodesy Research Group as student assistant within the Villum YIP project. Stine is a bachelor student in Surveying, Planning and Land Management. She will work with the hydrological water balance model ReWaterGAP and analyse water storage patterns in Europe/globally.

    Assistant Professor Mehdi Shafiei Joud, has joined the Geodesy Research Group as Assistant Professor from Feb 2024. Mehdi has PhD in geodesy from KTH Sweden. He does research in satellite Geodesy, Geo-statistics and Machine learning. He will work as Assistant Professor in Surveying and Geodesy at the Department of Sustainability and Planning, Aalborg University, the Copenhagen Campus.

    Dr Shaoxing Mo, visits the Geodesy Research Group as senior researcher from Februar 2024. Shaoxing is from Nanjing University, where he works on topics related to hydrological processes and droughts by employing a broad range of methods, including numerical modeling, deep learning, explainable artificial intelligence, and remote sensing. He will work on the application of data driven techniques for downscaling and predicting hydrological processes.

    Marie Dam begin her job in december 2023 at the Geodesy Research Group as student assistant. Marie is a masters student in Surveying, Planning and Land Management. She will proces global GNSS stations to evaluate hydrological and geophysical models.

    • Nooshin Mehrnegar will be going on maternity leave starting this month and continuing until either Autumn or Winter 2024. We wish her all the best.
    • Dr Lissi Marianne Wind leaves AAU. We wish her all the best.
    • Titanilla Mátrai graduated from Aalborg University in the field of International Business Masters and Business Development. She will be starting a new adventure in the business environment in Denmark.

    Hilda Vörös has started her job at the Geodesy Research Group as student assistant. Hilda is a bachelor student in Surveying, Planning and Land Management. She will manage the geodesy website and will work on analysing and visualising satellite geodetic-hydrology data.

    Leire Retegui-Schiettekatte has started her PhD Fellowship working on the DANSk-LSM project to with developing efficient multi-sensor Data Assimilation frameworks for integrating Earth Observation Satellite data into Land Surface Mode.

    Nooshin Mehrnegar has started her MSCA fellowship on a research project entitled MuSe-BDA to work on how the climate change and anthropogenic modifications have been affecting the patterns of global rainfall, evapotranspiration, and stored terrestrial water and how these changes could be monitored or forecasted.

    Titanilla Mátrai joined as a Student Worker to our group. She will be responsible to develop and improve our official website aaugeodesy.com.
